Choice is the engine of our evolution...If you choose unconsciously, you will evolve unconsciously. If you choose consciously, you will evolve consciously.

- Gary Zukav

Some of the most solitary and quiet moments in life exist within the hustle and bustle of the city. There is something so profound in the discovery of this unexpected space amongst all of the chaos, making it all the more magical.

It's captured in the simple balance of light, in the play between object and void, in the feeling of wonder as the world touches something inside, bursting this worn heart wide open.

In the pines by Lucia Fernandez

But only someone who is ready for everything, who doesn’t exclude any experience, even the most incomprehensible, will live the relationship with another person as something alive and will himself sound the depths of his own being.
— Letters to a Young Poet, Rainer Rilke

Overcoming is washing over me...and I believe that it has something in particular to teach.

Nothing is as expected, and but nothing ever has been.

Whatever comes to unfold, is bound to have some mysterious significance only to be found in the absolute quiet of my mind, as I walk slowly through the pines.

And I will learn again, and again...that there is nothing but unknown that lies ahead.

Finally I understand, that it is only in the next step that anything means everything.

This is my conquering song by Lucia Fernandez

Like a candle, our wick of spirit is encased in our humanity, and when our spirit is touched, we light up until all we know melts and changes shape for the burn of our experience.

The Book of Awakening - Mark Nepo

This is my thankful song, for all that has been and gone...

With the coming of another close, I realize there is never anything but opening

Opening to myself, to others, to life as it unfolds in each moment

The 'burn of my experience' is the challenge I face today as I watch it become the gift of tomorrow

I am the river that I am crossing

Perhaps love is an instrument we play for all we're worth in an orchestra yet to be convened. Perhaps this is why, in the fullest moments of loving or knowing or being, we go nameless and timeless and breathless - everything about us used up, like a candle, burned over and over, just to light entire rooms with our flicker.

Answer by Lucia Fernandez

I say to you, this morning, that if you have never found something so dear and precious to you that you will die for it, then you aren’t fit to live.

You may be 38 years old, as I happen to be, and one day, some great opportunity stands before you and calls upon you to stand for some great principle, some great issue, some great cause. And you refuse to do it because you are afraid.

You refuse to do it because you want to live longer. You’re afraid that you will lose your job, or you are afraid that you will be criticized or that you will lose your popularity, or you’re afraid that somebody will stab or shoot or bomb your house. So you refuse to take a stand.

Well, you may go on and live until you are ninety, but you are just as dead at 38 as you would be at ninety.

And the cessation of breathing in your life is but the belated announcement of an earlier death of the spirit.

You died when you refused to stand up for right.

You died when you refused to stand up for truth.

You died when you refused to stand up for justice.

-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In the howling winds of change

I stand still

listening to the subtle nudge

of life telling me which way to go

and I am grateful...

With love as your compass, you’ll always end up exactly where you belong - right in the midst of fulfilling your purpose
— Holley Murchison

I look behind me and recognize the magnificence of the patterns made up of all the individual cracks and crevasses of my experience, and my memory.

In the tracks I leave behind what has challenged me, what has nurtured the changes in me - inspiring my heart and mind to grow beyond their perceived limits. I move forward and know that my foot will never fall without leaving its mark, always beginning a new collection of patterns and shapes in the expanse of possibility in my life.
